Changes to the Altinn Integration in Simployer Classic

Altinn is upgrading its platform from Altinn 2 to Altinn 3. Altinn 2 will be shut down in June 2026. Simployer moved to the new Altinn platform in spring 2026. This article explains what has changed and what it means for you.

Business certificates are no longer needed

Previously, connecting to Altinn required a business certificate — a digital credential that had to be purchased and renewed regularly. With Altinn 3, a new delegation system is in place, and these certificates are no longer required. You don't need to do anything to manage or renew certificates.

Your organisations are now synced with the Business Registry

Simployer now continuously syncs your organisations with the Norwegian Business Registry (Foretaksregisteret). This means all sub-units (such as branch offices) linked to a legal entity are automatically kept up to date.

This is important because NAV requires all absence reporting to be done at the sub-unit level, so accurate data is essential.

To see your registered legal entities and sub-units, go to Administration – Altinn in Simployer. From here you can also activate or deactivate units.

You must have the Altinn administrator role to make changes.

Submitting follow-up plans to NAV

NAV has introduced stricter requirements for follow-up plans. Before a plan is accepted, NAV will now automatically check that:

  • The employee has an active employment relationship with the reporting unit.
  • The employee has an active sick leave certificate.

If either condition is not met, NAV will reject the submission.

Simployer Classic now provides clearer error messages to help managers understand exactly what needs to be in place before submitting.

Upcoming changes

NAV has simplified the official follow-up plan format. We will update the follow-up plan in Simployer Classic to match. We do not have a confirmed release date yet — we will share more information in a future newsletter.
