The Salary Review module has been significantly updated with new functionality aimed at improving the quality, transparency, and efficiency of the salary review process. This release introduces richer contextual information for planners, structured communication between participants, a more flexible approval workflow, and improved configurability of email notifications.
Employment and Compensation Information in the Review
Planners now have access to relevant employment and compensation information directly within the salary review interface, without needing to consult external systems. Users can also navigate directly to an employee's profile page from within the review.
- Age
- Employment start date
- Length of service (tenure)
- Salary history
This removes the need to consult external systems during the review process, supporting more informed and consistent compensation decisions.
Comments on Proposals and Rejections
A structured comments feature has been introduced to improve communication between participants at each level of the review process. Comments are scoped by role:
- Planner level — A planner can leave a general comment on their review or when submitting it for approval. Their assigned approver can read these comments, respond, or include a comment when approving or rejecting. Communication at this level is between the planner and their one assigned approver.
- Approver level — The same structure applies between the approver and the final approver.
- Final approvers — Can read and leave comments at any level across the entire workflow.
- Owner — Can read and leave comments at any level. Additionally, the owner can substitute any participant in the workflow — replacing a planner, approver, or final approver with another employee — and retains full comment access when doing so.
All comments are stored within the salary review workflow, supporting transparency and auditability.
Optional Additional Approver
The approval process now supports two levels of approval before salary adjustments are finalised. An optional second approver can be assigned between the planner and the final approver — for example, an HR representative in addition to a manager.
- The additional approver is optional. If not assigned, the standard single-approver process applies.
- Status tracking is available throughout, showing the current stage of each review.
- A planner can be assigned as their own approver where applicable.
Enhanced Approval Overview Table
The table used by approvers to review and action salary proposals now includes additional information to support decision-making:
- Review period
- Percentage of budget used
- Percentage salary increase
- Compensation currency
- Planner comment
Configurable Email Notifications
Launch notifications can now be sent by email to both planners and approvers when a salary review is initiated. Notifications for planners and approvers can be scheduled independently.
The subject line and message body of each notification are fully editable within the module. All changes to notification settings are saved automatically.
Editing and Flexibility Improvements
Several usability improvements have been made to the salary review workflow:
- Edit ongoing reviews — The assigned planner, approver, or final approver can be changed after a review has been initiated.
- Edit before start date — A salary review can be modified up until its start date. After the start date, the review is locked for editing.
- Tab navigation — Navigating between tabs within the salary review interface no longer results in loss of unsaved data.
