How do I create and manage Goals in Simployer One?

Goals help your organization plan, track, and achieve measurable objectives. You can create company goals, organize them into parent goals and sub-goals, assign ownership, monitor progress, and update their status throughout the goal lifecycle.

Before you begin

Every employee can create company goals.

How do I create a goal?

  1. Navigate to Performance → Goals.
  2. Open the Company tab.
  3. Select + Add goal.
  4. Enter the Goal name.
  5. Add a clear Description.
  6. (Optional) Select a Parent goal if you are creating a sub-goal.
  7. Select the Lead.
  8. Add one or more Collaborators.
  9. Choose the Cycle.
  10. (Optional) Select the Due dates (start and end date).
  11. Choose the Quantifying value.
  12. Configure the Progress metrics.
  13. (Optional) Change the Status, New goals start as Not started.
  14. (Optional) Enable Keep this goal private.
  15. Select Save goal.

The new goal is immediately available. A private goal is listed under My Goals, not under the Company tab.

What does each field mean?

  • Goal: the name of the goal.
  • Description: what the goal is about and how success is measured.
  • Parent goal: link the goal to an existing goal to make it a sub-goal.
  • Lead: the person responsible for the goal.
  • Collaborators: people who work on the goal. You can add individuals, teams departments or offices.
  • Cycle: the goal's active period - the whole year, a half-year (H1, H2) or quarter (Q1-Q4).
  • Due date (optional): a start date and an end date.
  • Quantifying value: how progress is measured - Currency, Binary, Number or Percentage.
  • Progress metrics: Initial value, Current value and Target value. Progress is calculated from these.
  • Status: where the goal is in its lifecycle.
  • Keep this goal private: the goal is only visible to its lead and collaborators.

How do I update progress?

Progress can be updated in two ways. Choose the method under Update when you edit the goal:

Automatically from sub-goals

If the goal contains sub-goals, progress can automatically update as sub-goals are completed. Add sub-goals with Add new subgoal on the goal page.

Manually

Update the Current value in the Progress metrics.

The progress bar updates automatically.

How do I change the goal status?

Open the goal, select Edit goal, select the status and choose one of:

  • Not started
  • In progress
  • Road block
  • Paused
  • Achieved
  • Dropped
  • Archived

Then select Save goal.

How do I edit a goal?

  1. Open the goal and select Edit goal. Update any of the available fields.
  2. Select Save goal.

To remove a goal, open it and select Delete goal.

How do I view archived goals?

  1. Turn on the Archived goals switch on the Goals page.
  2. Archived goals remain available for reference.

Best practices

  • Write clear, measurable goals.
  • Use sub-goals for larger objectives.
  • Update progress regularly.
  • Assign one responsible lead.
  • Keep descriptions specific.
